What is the Board of Directors?
Walnut Acres Children’s Center is governed by a “Board of Directors”, a group of up to nine parent volunteers. The Board of Directors is the governing body of a nonprofit organization. The responsibilities of the board include discussing and voting on the highest priority issues, setting organizational policies, and hiring and evaluating key staff. Board members are not required to know everything about nonprofit management, but they are expected to act prudently and in the best interests of the organization. They approve operating budgets, current fees, and establish long-term plans.

How often does the Board of Directors meet?
The Board of Directors typically meet once a month at the center on a mutually agreed upon date.  Meetings, with the exception of closed sessions, are open to all Walnut Acres Children’s Center parents and staff.
