R2D3 Festivities!

 In R2D3

In November, we had lots of fun fall-themed activities planned in R2D3 like leaf artwork and nature hunts.  We started off the month with some “all about voting” activities on election day.  Kids volunteered to give speeches on their favorite fruits; strawberry, pineapple, and apple.  They cast their ballots after hearing speeches from our candidates Rebecca, Anika, and Noah.

Later in the month our cohort celebrated the Hindu festival of Diwali.  With Nina, and two of our cohort friends celebrating this holiday we thought it was important to share in our celebration.  We passed out fact sheets, made some Diwali candle crafts, and danced to Indian music.  We can’t forget about the Indian sweets we ate to celebrate either!  It was very fulfilling to share that holiday with the group and learn together about a different cultural practice.

We’ve had a lot going on in December as well!  From salt art, giant gingerbread men and a daily “December Doodle” challenge we’ve been busy!  With the holidays coming up, we will be having discussions about what kids and staff celebrate and incorporating a little something from each holiday represented in our cohort!
